We are excited to present this Summer STEAM Camp. Students can participate in numerous hands-on, STEAM-related activities in themes of Nature, E-Sports, Art, and Engineering, board games, and weather explorers. Target Audience: Kids entering 5-8 Graders. Space is limited, so don't miss out.
Week 1 - July 9,10,11 (9:00-12:00) Nature Art Adventure Camp
Location @ CMH
At Nature Art Adventure Camp, campers will use nature as their inspiration for art projects. Campers will learn the basic steps behind sculpting and building with stoneware clay to create colorful, glazed sculptures. There will also be time to practice sketching and drawing from life using oil pastels in the CMHS Community Art Garden. Additional time may be used for rock art and other fun games and activities.
Week 2 - July 16, 17, 19 (9:00-12:00) Theme: Esports
Location: @ CMHS
During ESports Week, campers will have the opportunity to compete in a variety of electronic games with their peers. They will have access to the CMHS ESports equipment to play games like Rocket League, Mario Kart and Smash Bros.
Week 3 - July 23, 24, 25 (9:00-12:00) Theme: Engineering Art
Location: @ CMHS
Campers at Engineering Art camp will design, create and engage in fun competitions. Whose toothpick bridge design will hold the most weight? Can you build a boat that will float? What about an airplane that can fly? Campers will need to bring their engineering skills and tap into their artistic side to find out the answers to these questions and more!
Week 4 - July 30, 31, August 1(9:00-12:00) Theme: Board Games & LEG0
Location @ CMHS
During Board Games & LEGO Week, campers will get to play a variety of cooperative board games, card games and puzzles with their peers. Students will also have access to LEGO so that they can build creatively, or compete in challenges.
Week 5 - August 6, 7, 8 (9:00-12:00) Theme Weather Explorers Location: @ CMHS
During Weather Explorers week, campers will learn all about weather, its extremes, and how we use the wind and sun for energy. Campers will get outside to set up fun experiments and engage in hands-on activities like building a windmill, watching the water cycle happen in real time, and finding out what melts in the sun (weather pending, of course)
